BG Industrial Doctors Inc. Safety Program

BG Industrial Doctors Inc. Is Committed To A Strong Safety Program That Protects Its Workers, Property And The Public From Accidents.

Workers at every level, including management, are responsible and accountable for the company’s overall safety initiatives. Complete and active participation by everyone, every day, in every job is necessary for the health and safety excellence the company expects. Management supports the coordination and cooperation of all workers concerning health and safety on the job site and while traveling to and from the work site in either a company-owned or private vehicle.

Management encourages all workers to participate in the health and safety program. Management is committed to providing proper equipment, training policies, practices and procedures. Workers are responsible for following all procedures, working safely and; whenever possible, improving health and safety measures.

An injury and accident free workplace is our goal. Through continuous safety and loss control efforts, we can accomplish this.

The ultimate goal of safety in the workplace is to eliminate personal injury and health problems. A safe and healthy work environment is an employee’s right and a goal everyone should work towards. It is the policy of BG Industrial Doctors Inc. that injury and loss prevention shall be considered of primary importance in all phases of operation and administration. It is the intention of BG Industrial Doctors Inc. management to provide safe and healthy working conditions and to establish and insist upon safe practices at all times by all employees.

The prevention of injuries and losses are objectives affecting all levels of our company and its operations. It is, therefore, a basic requirement that each Supervisor make the safety of all employees an integral part of his or her regular management function. It is equally the duty of each employee to accept and follow established safety regulations and procedures as outlined by Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Legislation or by BG Industrial Doctors Inc. Loss Management Program. Loss Management within our company is controlled in a safe and reliable manner and is in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Alberta Construction Owner’s Association.

Health and safety in the workplace does not stop and start with the employer, safety committee, educators, the government or the community. It is everyone’s responsibility. Every effort will be made to provide adequate training to employees. However, if an employee is ever in doubt about how to do a job or task safely, it is his or her duty to ask a qualified person for assistance. Employees have the legal right and responsibility to refuse work in which they feel is unsafe or that they are not qualified to do (as outlined in the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act). Employees are expected to assist management in incident prevention activities. Unsafe conditions must be reported immediately. Fellow employees that need help should be assisted. Everyone is responsible for the housekeeping duties that pertain to their jobs.

Safety is everyone’s business…safety takes teamwork.

The supervisor is the person who sees that the company’s health and safety program is implemented. Some jobsites have designated health and safety supervisors but they can only be in one place at a time. The real key to the success of a health and safety program is you…the foreperson, superintendent, crew chief, etc. You are responsible to see that acts and conditions on the worksite are up to standard. Safe job procedures on the worksite will minimize the chance of accidents/incidents happening. You work with management and your crew to see that they all do their part. You must provide a strong leadership role.

Workers are responsible for making sure that every job done on the worksite is done carefully. That means doing their work in safe ways and reporting substandard acts and conditions so that they can be corrected. For employees to do these things, they must know and believe that safety is important to the company. They have to know that management will support them if they make a decision in the interest of health and safety. You take ownership of the health and safety program.
